![]() I find it amazing how Neil and Geddy can lay down these different groove so effortlessly. I was prepared to trash this song but, this morning when I listened more closely, I found myself drawn into counting all of the different time changes and it made the song much more interesting. I don’t find much to like here beyond the time signature changes. So for me Test ends up being around the same value for me as Presto and Roll The Bones. I like the album well enough, but for me, after a strong opening, there is just too much stuff on here that I find average, mediocre, just not entirely engaging.Ĭertainly there are some pretty decent tracks, but they never really rise above that for me.ġ - A Farewell To Kings - Hemispheres - Moving Pictures - Grace Under PressureĤ - Counterparts, Permanent Waves - Signals I am not sure that I find it particularly interesting. It moves into a key modulation of sorts, and we move on through. Roughly halfway through we get an Alex lead break, and it isn't bad, nothing special though. On the whole the music is pretty decent, but again it doesn't strike me as being a highlight. and I am not sure if it suits the message given. Then we move into a riff and the bass and drums comes in, and the feel of that chorus section seems quite light. Musically we open with some super saturated guitar, and the vocal comes in over them. On the whole I like a lot about this lyric, and its attempt to deal with the burdens we find in life, but there are a couple of awkward lines, that don't really ring true to me. I'm also not sure about the You can drive to the end of the road, but the past are right behind you. I'm not so sure about the "If You Could Just Move Yours, I Could Get Working On My Own". For the most part it is a pretty good lyric. ![]() This song seems to be directed at dealing one's burdens in life. Songwriters: Alex Lifeson / Geddy Lee / Neil Elwood PeartĬarve Away the Stone (2013 Remaster) lyrics © Ole Media Management Lp Roll away the stone (roll away the stone) ![]() Roll away the stone (roll away the stone) (Sisyhpus) Here we have a reference to Sisyphus, who in Greek? mythology was kind of cursed to roll a large rock to the top of a hill only for it to roll down again, and repeat the process. It's not outright bad so I'll give it a 'decent' grade, but it perplexes me why they could come up with so many excellent instrumentals earlier in their career.as well as on the previous album.and this one is a hot mess. MM is one of my favorite Halloween songs, so that's fun that they included it. I love the intro lick, the disembodied vocals totally remind me of 2112 and that's pretty sweet, and I admit that I do love the Monster Mash quotes. This song is such a head-scratcher, because there are pretty cool sections on an individual level. from Geddy, but it's so formless that it just sounds like he's filling space. There's no real flow here, just things beside other things. I don't know how true it is, but it sounds to me like Limbo is a bunch of unused riffs just thrown together. Well that's a great bass lick to start us off, isn't it? After that.where are we going? It's automatically supposed to be great since it's a RUSH INSTRUMENTAL, but somehow they forgot to actually compose.
